A well-researched genealogical history of the Stiles family, primarily the family of Robert Stiles of Rowley (1639) through nine generations (534 pages) and the family of William Stiles of Dover (before 1715) through seven generations (28 pages). The volume includes essays by Henry R. Stiles on the origins of the family and name (six pages) and the Stiles family in England (61 pages). Clean interior on high quality paper, in need of rebinding. Boards are present and attached to the book block, but the back strip is completely torn off and the spine is broken completely in one place and mostly broken in a second. If not replaced, the existing binding could be easily repaired using existing materials.

Auburn, Maine: The Author, 1882. First edition. Hardcover. Good. 8vo, 6 x 9.5, xvi + 620 pages, with tweny-six tipped-in plates. Binding is tight, except front hinge is loose and a few of the tipped-in plates are detached (but present and in place). There is some water staining on the back cover and at the top of approx. six pages, else the interior is clean with nominal toning.
This genealogy, with many interleaved illustrations, offers a history of the Little family from George of Newbury, the immigrant ancestor, through nine generations of his descendants, in both male and female lines. Almost all the first three generations lived and died in Newbury, Massachusetts.
