Ausgustus Thibaudeau ,one of the Buffalo Pictorialist , worked and was friends with Alfred Stieglitz ,Clarence White , Alvin Langdon Coburn , Rose Clark , Gertrude Kasebier , Edward Steichen. Hard Cover w/ Box Case. 1st.ed. 1971 ,Hardcover with folding box wrap with ties and bone locks, book is tan cloth and the box is gray cloth with orange Japanese letters.With 74 pages of text in Japanese and English and 49 tipped in full page prints all in color with a tissue cover over each ,some fold out prints as in panel work.This is one of the finest work on Hiroshige (1797-1858) that I have seen in prints , a well done edition and one you will have a hard time finding in North America.Condition of the book is Very Fine with very light edge rubs from the folding box case light bump at each corner, and three of the blank pages in the back of the book with small one inch crease on them at the corner bottom.Ex owner inscribed. Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.

This is only one vol. of this very rare set of twenty books, many of the tales were translated to english and then printed in Japan by B.H. Chamberlain , David Thompson , and Kate James. This hand printed and hand made book made of hand made creped paper to look and act like cloth , to withstand the wear of children reading it.Please take a look at the photo of this book and you will see how detaled the woodblock carvers had to be.
