Published by the High Museum of Art in association with Hudson Hills. 12" X 9", dust jacket intact, 191 pages, with 48 color plates and 75 black and white illustrations. Published to accompany the exhibit held in Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia. Lisa N. Peters is a art historian with the Pratt Institute, author of several titles on American painters of the 19th century. This title includes many examples of this master of American impressionism, as well as an examination of the life of the artist. Each one illustrated with his distinctive animals. 8-1/2" X 11", 60 pages, sewn binding. The dust jacket is not price clipped, with the original price of $3.25 appearing on the interior top corner of the front flap. The dust jacket has a tear at the front bottom, through the rabbit wearing the red cap, and a large chip on the back bottom. The chip on the back is about 1" tall by 2-1/2" across. Several smaller chips and short tears as well. Though the dust jacket has been covered with a clear, removable protective cover. This is not a library discard copy. The binding is intact and the text is clean, with no writing, and no former ownership marks on the text. The sewn binding is still tight with all pages intact with no looseness to the text pages. The black cloth covered boards are in excellent condition with no edge wear, one tiny bump mark to the bottom edge of the front board, the gold colored letters of the author's name and title imprinted on the spine are not rubbed or worn. A collection of twelve stories of the adventures of Solar Pons, the detective created by Derleth, inspired by Sherlock Holmes character. The dust jacket has some minor edge wear primarily at the heel of the spine area, some rubbing at the edges, a smudge mark just to the left of the beast's head, no major rips or tears. The dedication reads; 'To Julius Unger, With My Very Best Regards, Edward E. Smith, Ph.d'. Julius Unger was a founding member of The Scienceers, which was the first known Sci-Fi fanclub, and a member of the committee for the First Worldcon. He also published several fanzines including FFF Fanewscard. 5" X 7-1/2", blue cloth covered boards, 247 pages. Author's name and title imprinted on the spine. This copy has foxing spots on the paste down pages, ffep, title page, and back end papers and paste down. Some fading to the spine, though all lettering is intact and legible. Very little wear to the boards besides the fading. The binding is straight and tight. A dot of a pencil mark squiggle on the first flyleaf, top right corner, covering an old price. Very small dot of edge wear to the heel of the spine, but overall there is not much wear to the boards.
