Book FINE/ Covers Very Good. In excellent shape for its age. No dust jacket or is missing. Boards are brown cloth, lettering red, colour print of painting affixed to front, as issued, with red border. Back has light edge wear, has a small bruise on top edge that shows 1/8 inch spot of board underneath, two slightly bent corners both with very slight breaking of cloth, three short lines where top finish has been pulled off, and minor shelf soil. Spine is bright, solid, no rips, a bit of edge wear all four edges and some minor creases top and bottom. Front cover has minor edge wear, one slightly bent corner, two corner tips with very slight breaking of cloth, a few minor rub marks and three portions of the cover art have top finish pulled off. FRONT COVER has black embossed Britannia Seated, a depiction of what appears to be a head-on view of sailing ship sails and mast figurehead, and in black embossed lettering Arnold’s School Series, Britannia History Readers, Book II, 1s 6d (this is the price in shillings and pennies). The front cover has two bent corners one with the cloth worn and one with a small tear, some edge wear, some light soil on open side edge. Spine is sunned so that the light blue is now grey but the black text of title is clear, spine has a few minor wrinkles, perhaps from age acting on the glue. The front and back covers are flat, clean, bright, no rips, very slightly bent corners, no spine creases, a bit of sunning around all edges. Spine is slightly rounded instead of sharply right angled. Pages edges very slightly sunned. Inside of book is tight, clean, bright, flat. One page dog eared about 1/2 inch, restored flat.
