All gilt edges, full leather cover with embossed design and gilt decoration. Foxing or spotting evident to many pages, but is generally light. Note that two editions were printed this same year, the other printed by Gosnell. Leather cover shows some slight corner wear, cover wear, and top of spine heavily worn. This is a very hard to find rare book.

The manuscript contains 51 full page miniatures with rich gold ornaments and numerous splendid initial letters. The binding is an all leather binding, with all pages hand cut according to the original. The commentary volume has a detailed scholarly commentary. Limited and numbered edition, limited to 500 copies, with each volume numbered by hand (this is volume 194). The codex dates from about 1200, Northern France. Undeniably the greatest painting to employ ridged drapery is in the Psalter (Chantilly, Musee Conde Ms. 1695; ills. 190-193) made for Queen Ingeborg of France. Near Fine condition folio of unbound leaves, in Very Good original slipcase. The Berkeley Version of the Song of Songs has been chosen for this edition and is printed here with the premission of the Zondervan Publishing House in Grand Rapids Michigan. Monotype Bell Antiqua was used for the text, which was printed by Hans Christians, Hamburg; the lithographs were printed by Paul Robert Wilk, Frankfurt am Main, and the hand-made Butten is a production of Hahnemuhle in Dassel. The edition consists of 200 copies numbered in Arabic, each containing one additional lithograph, and 50 copies numbered in Roman, each with four additional lithographs. This is the English version.
