About This Item

1853 Life of Blessed Virgin Mary Orsini English Catholic Ireland Illustrated
A beautiful, rare English edition of Orsini's 'Life of the Blessed Virgin Mary.' This fine work of Catholic literature was translated out of the original French into English and is "a labor of love for a Catholic to celebrate the praises and publish the renown of our most dear Mother." Called a 'Superb Work' by the Lambruschini 'Treatise on the Immaculate Conception', this work was written to honor the Virgin Mary and hold her in the highest regard. Translated by Mrs. J Sadlier, this work "follows the course of the universal devotion wherewith the Church has honored, and does still honor, this Queen of angels and of men. It shows how from age to age that devotion has grown and prospected coequal with Catholicity and records the shrines and churches erected in every land under her invocation. It embodies the Eastern traditions concerning her with the conclusive testimony of the Fathers; the little which is related of her in Scripture being but a faint sketch of her life." (Sadlier, preface).
