Description:
1850 1ed Mexican American War Livermore Indians Texas Annexation Mexico Battles

"The War with Mexico Reviewed" is a rare essay account of the Mexican American War that won the literary competition put on by the American Peace Society. Larned says,
"It describes the expenditures, inhumanities, views of camps, military executions, and all the horrors of the war. It ascribes the cause of the war to the avarice of the slave owners and the land hunger of the Americans" (Larned)

"War with Mexico Reviewed" was awarded the five-hundred-dollar prize offered by the American Peace Society
"for the best review of the Mexican War on the principles of Christianity, and an enlightened statesmanship."

This rare 1850 edition includes discussions on battles fought with soldiers and Indians, annexation of new territories including New Mexico, Texas, California, the moral failings caused by war, and much more.

Description:
1864 Civil War 1st ed 60th New York Infantry Union Gettysburg SLAVERY Railroads
The 60th-New York Volunteer Infantry was a famous Civil War Union regiment known for playing an important role in various battles including the Battle of Gettysburg. Author Richard Eddy wrote an account of the regiment and its involvement in the war; however, according to Nevins, this work is much more a "damnation of the South and slavery than a regimental history." Other notable contents include reports on railroads and railroad lines, description of Union barracks, and of course descriptions of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg.

Description:
Athens GA: University of Georgia Press, 1997. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/Near Fine. VG/NF/Signed/1st ed. A scarce publication. This copy is a retired reference copy from a public library. The book has a previous owner's name at the top of the half title page, and also the date bought, the amount paid and donated to a local public library is written in the gutters of the book. I found no other markings; and the pages are clean and white and the corners are sharp. The heel and head of both panels have lost some color, but no breaks to the cloth. The binding is tight. The dust jacket has a small nick at the top of the spine. Color on jacket is excellent, and jacket is now covered with a mylar sleeve. Inscribed and signed on the title page. 592pp., illustrations, afterword, notes, index. Comes to you in an acid free document bag for storage, mailed boxed, and I can have it in the mail tomorrow.
