Wilhelm Ignaz Schutz was a 17th-century German lawyer who wrote numerous books on law. One of Schutz's works was "Reflexiones politico-consolatoriae" which was his own considerations on the opportunities for men in politics, as well as commonly encountered misfortunes in law. Schutz includes satirical anecdotes intended for humor as well as a curious inclusion of a letter by Thomas More.

Giovanni da San Facondo was a 15th-century Spanish Augustinian monk who served the bishops of Burgos. More than two centuries after his death, Facond was made a saint by Pope Alexander VIII. Little is remembered about the life of Facond; however, author Orazio Quaranta published one of the only 17th-century accounts of Facond's life. Interestingly, this book was published prior to Facond's canonization.

Nemesius was a 4th-century Bishop of Emesa, however he was much better known for his only surviving book 'On the Nature of Man'. This book proved to be one of the earliest studies in Christian anthropology and the Greek approaches to the structures of the human body. It is also concerned with the structure of the universe, and the levels of providence, or the characteristics of God. Nemesius is also credited with the idea of 'world-soul', first found in this book.

This 1636 English edition of Nemesius was collected and edited by George Wither, published in London by Taunton.
