About This Item
Finland: Mosfilm, 1964. 1st Edition . No Binding. Fine. A remarkable, apparently un-used Finnish A2 cinema-foyer poster for the celebrated Soviet-era, World War 2 movie, Zhivyje i mjortvyje known in English as The Alive and the Dead. Now acknowledged as a masterpiece the film attracted huge audiences on its release. The film was first screened in cinemas in Finland in November 1964 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This poster is not a modern reproduction or reprinting and nor is it Video/DVD-related. This particular poster is a standard size 60cm x 40cm approx and was printed by Rotapaino Oy, dated 1964. It is in Very Fine to Mint un-used condition - unfolded, free from pinholes or other signs of use. This is a rare poster in any condition but to find such a perfect example is a minor miracle. As usual the Finns have done their own thing with the layout and design but the graphics are effective and beautiful. Exceptionally clean and bright. A very nice example of vintage movie advertising art and design in outstanding condition and a very rare cinema poster. For best appreciation of condition, please examine the high-resolution image which accompanies this listing.
