Samtida blindpressat skinnband över träpärmar, ryggen med fyra upphöjda bind och senare, beige något skadad titeletikett, pärmarna rikt blindpräglade i speglar, med 1550 präglat på frampärmen, rester av spännen. Nissen 395. The most extensive collection of mycological colour-illustrations until the publication of Bresadola’s ”Iconographia mycologica”. The illustrations were partly drawn by Cooke from nature and partly after originals by Berkeley, Broome, W. G. Smith and Massee. The plates are renumbered by hand as per the instrucions of the author, and the plate that is lacking is number 1138.

Contemporary full calf, gilt spine with black label, the label somewhat rubbed. Owner’s signature of Carl Magnus Ehnemark, dated Philadelphia 1823. First American edition, complete with the extra appendix plates. Lever’s standard work was first published in London in 1808. The second was published the same year as this first American.
