First edition/first state with correct blurbs on dj and 195/195 price. DJ has small closed tear to front bottom, some edgewear and some toning on front cover close to edge. Book has rubbing to top and bottom and corners, a small smudge on first white page and some ink stain to corner of back board. Inside pages are bright and clean. A very nice copy of this hard to find edition.

Original Japanese vellum pictorial boards - rubbed, small stain at foot of spine, endpapers discolored by binder's glue, else internally clean. Very Good in a great custom folding-case. A solid copy of a title that's rare in nice original condition.
A work that bolstered Wilde's fame and which he described as "partly for children, and partly for those who have kept the childlike faculties of wonder and joy, and who find in simplicity a subtle strangeness."

London : Duckworth & Co, 1913 A good copy of the limited edition in gilt-decorated parchment binding with tipped-in frontispiece and 11 further tipped-in plates by Charles Robinson. This copy is number 241 of 260 copies of which 250 were for sale. The binding has a browned spine, and a lot of browning and scuffing to edges with some loss of surface at the front corners and the top back corner. There is some marking to the front board. Internally the decorative endpapers are present without inscription. The contents, including numerous designs and line illustrations by Charles Robinson are in good to very good clean condition. There are lightly creased tissue guards to plates at pp 26 and 68 and the tissue guards to plates at pp 76 and 122 have some wrinkling and browning. The mount to the plate at p76 has a slight ripple at the top. Page 47 has a turned corner tip and there is a small repaired edge tear to the bottom margin of p 54. 1959 Edition of the 16 Volume Children's Golden Book Encyclopedia Set. Each volume is bound in the publisher's illustrated boards in excellent condition. All bindings are tight with little if any signs of wear, cocking or leaning of the boards. This children's illustrated encyclopedia set was placed in a young girl's bookcase in 1959 where it sat until July of 2020. There are no bookplates or other condition issues on the set's 1,536 pages. There is evidence of fading on all shelf-side book ends where the set was exposed to light, as shown in the photos. With that exception, each of the 16 volumes is in Fine condition with little or no evidence of wear.

The tumultuous and complicated history of "Little Black Sambo" as a book and as a pejorative term adds a painful overlay to this otherwise charming Christmas stocking stuffer. . Later Printings. With wonderful illustrations by Nancy Ekholm Burkert. This was Roald Dahl's first book for children. Basis for the 1976 BBC TV film starring Simon Bell, Anna Quayle, and Ann Beach, and the 1996 animated film starring Paul Terry, Richard Dreyfuss, Peter Postlethwaite, and Susan Sarandon.
