Description:
New York: E. P. Dutton & Co; Duenewald Printing Co. Very Good with no dust jacket 1943. First Edition. Hardcover. Bright copy of this excellent, collectible animated book. Color illustratio ns/animations by Julian Wehr. This is a first edition with 7 animations that are animated by moving a paper tab back and forth (I understand that other later books of this one have fewer animations). Absolutely adorable! All of the tabs work and all of the pieces move, although two aren't "good as new". All pages are attached well to the red spiral binding. Nothing is scribbled on; no water marks. The tabs have surface soil/wear but each functions ok. Please note each animation and their condition: Animation 1 (Sambo with umbrella) - one leg is missing; the leg that is there has had some obvious repair. Animation 2 (Sambo giving jacket to tiger) - perfect. Animation 3 (Sambo giving pants to tiger) - perfect. Animation 4 (Tiger grabbing for Sambo) - perfect. Animation 5 (Tiger opening umbrella) - one side… Read More

Description:
LONDON: WARNE, 1902. 1st Edition 5th Printing. Hardcover. Fine. AUTHOR. The First 2 years of the LONDON Publication of "The TALE of PETER RABBIT" have reference books about the various Printings/evolution of changes. I'm fascinated by it myself. Now, excluding the impossible First Private Printings in Late 1901 & Early 1902 from the realm of possibility for we mere mortals, the First few Original Warne Trade Printings are one of my joys to study - and even more to Find! Most collector's know that the First few Warne Printings (late 1902 - mid 1903) were done with patterned leaf end papers and had 97 pages with all illustrations in Color (Private Printings were B&W). The distinction between the printings was the Board Color. The last of these 4 printings changed "wept" to "shed". NOTE: NONE of These Printings had a COPYRIGHT DATE (on the rear of the Title Page)! Now, here is where it gets interesting!! All References deal with the Change in Format in Late 1903 from 97 pages… Read More

BAUM, L[yman] Frank. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. With pictures by W. W. Denslow. Chicago: Geo. M. Hill, 1900. 8vo, 260pp. Light green cloth pictorially stamped in green and red. Pictorial fixed endpapers; 24 color plates and two-color illustrations on nearly every page. Expertly recased. A surprisingly bright, sharp copy, with contents clean and bright. Housed in a custom-made slip-case.First edition, second state, binding state "C", bearing all of the second state points for the text and the plates (Bienvenue p.4-6). A remarkably clean, bright copy of Baum's masterpiece. The cloth is still light green in color – not faded as on nearly every other copy we've ever seen. Even on those few other copies we have ever examined where the covers have stayed light green, the spine cloth has still faded to a dull green or light tan, but this copy actually still retains the original light green color to the spine! By far, the finest copy we have ever seen in over 40 years of handling this title. The book that… Read More
