Prassinos (born in Turkey in 1920) was quickly adopted by the surrealists as a creator of automatic writing par excellence. Her first book, LA SAUTERELLE ARTHRITIQUE was published in 1935, accompanied by a preface by Paul Eluard and a photograph by Man Ray.

Copies 'xx' of thirty E.A. copies numbered in roman, and signed by Butor and Masurovsky in each volume. A record of collaborations over 15 years. Masurovsky studied at Black Mountain College in 1947-8, and subsequently settled in Paris. In 2004 he was featured in an exhibition and workshop at Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center marking the publication of BLACK MOUNTAIN COLLEGE DOSSIER NO. 8: GREGORY MASUROVSKY.

Very good suite of five (of six) woodcuts from this scarce edition of the Dance of Death.Five large dramatic anti-socialist engravings accompanied by lettered verses by Robert Reineck, inspired by the revolutionary uprisings suppressed by the military in Germany in 1848.The five plates are: Death rises from the grave to be greeted by Liberty, Equality and Fraternity; Death holding scales in front of a crowd at a tavern; Death delivers a sword to the people; Death stands on a barricade; and Death as victor riding on horseback over corpses. New York: Oxford University Press, 1953 A very special book by Swiss author Selina Chonz and illustrated by the notable Swiss artist and illustrator, Alois Carigiet. Both are Swiss icons and recipients of the Hans Christian Andersen prize. They shared the Romansch language and apparently the strong cultural flavour of these peoples of the high alps is evoked and celebrated in this and the two other works that they produced. The attached photos show the very good condition of this book. Boards are slightly sunned.The dust jacket is clipped and there is a small former owner name. Boards are square, binding is clean and tight, even the corners are unblemished. There is a slight loss to top and tail of the jacket and some minor soiling of the jacket rear.
