Knox was the 4th Comptroller General to serve in this office, and also the longest-serving ; his time in office lasting 12 years, from 1872-1884. Top edge of page block soiled. Dark blue cloth boards have some spotting near the top edge. Contents are clean, tight and unmarked. A wonderful resource for anyone studying the history of banking in the U.S., and let us all hope that more than a few people currently are doing just that !. First Edition. Cloth. Hardings successful campaign for the Presidency of the U.S. and was subsequently appointed Postmaster General. After a year in that position, he resigned to become most famously known as the first President of Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA), which under his guidance published a blacklist of actors and workers studios should not hire, inserted moral clauses into actors' contracts, and published an informal list of suggested guidelines for film producers. Book is Near Fine, faint stain to cloth rear boards. Profusely illustrated and with fold-out charts and maps. 1005 pages. He founded the American Economic Association and was the author of a series of widely read books on the organized labor movement, socialism, and other social questions. These 2 volumes are from the library of Frank Robotka (1889-1975), with his signature title page vol. 1. Robotka was Professor of Agricultural Economics at Iowa State University.
