Illustrated by five copper engravings depicting: types of knives used to slaughter sacrificial animals; priest removing the internal organs of a lamb; folded map of Northern Egypt, Sinai peninsula and Judea, indicating proposed route of the Exodus; man being burned at the stake; man being beaten to death by an executioner. Icludes two odes, the first by Alexander Arnold Pagenstecher, and the second by Adamus Menso Lsing. Text in LAtin with Quotations and examples in Greek and Hebrew with Latin Translation. Includes indicies. Covers bowed (as usual with vellum bindings). Spine label delicately chipped. A very few instances of usual marginal page chipping, not intruding to text or image. Some usual darkening to pages. generally, a Near Fine, exceedingly crisp copy.

1789 Buxtorf HEBREW & Latin Jewish Bible Lexicon Dictionary Judaica Rabbinica 4v
A rare 17th-century Hebrew / Latin lexicon and Old Testament concordance.

Originally started in 1607, Johann Buxtorf began working on a Hebrew lexicon. However, this work was one of the few works of his that had to be completed by other writers, mainly his son. This dictionary was published multiple times throughout the next two centuries and would become the basis for many 19th-century Hebrew concordances. This work serves as a reference tool for Old Testament research particularly the Pentateuch.

This 1789 Rome edition was published in four volumes by Zempel.

This book, published in Livorno, Italy in 1797, was a study into the behaviors expected in a Jewish synagogue and temple – or simply a Jewish guide to sanctuary. Notably, Livorno became a hub for Jewish immigrants in the 17th-century and their presence only grew throughout the Medici rulership. Curiously though, it wasn't until 1780, when Livorno government reorganized, that Jews were declared eligible for various positions in the general court. Light spotting to front cover. On top of front cover clalligraphed in ink: "Psalm". Ff (4) + Ff CXXVI + F (1) + last blank (lower righ of the blank has lost a part of the paper). Title-page printed in red inside vertikal woodcut borders and with a large woodcut depicting King David playing the harpe. The following three leaves (Calender) printed in red and black. The woodcut initial "P" in "Psalterium on title-page rubricated. Large rubricated woodcut initials. The first in different colours of gold, red and blue. One initial unfinished. The Latin text surrounded by the German text on each page. Printed on good heavy paper with broad margins, clean and fine.

Petrus Cunaeus was an early 17th-century Dutch scholar whose 'Hebrew Republic' is considered, according to Tuck, "the most powerful statement of republican theory in the early years of the Dutch Republic."(Tuck, 169)
"De Republica Hebraeorum" describes ancient Hebrew kingdoms and portrays it as the model of republican governments. This book was highly influential on the formation of the Dutch Republic, even though Cunaeus foresaw the Dutch government falling just as Rome did. Ultimately, Cunaeus sought for the book to instill tolerance toward 17th-century Jews through the publication of 'Republica.'

A rare, Benito Arias Montano was a 16th-century Spanish reformer best known for his Polyglot Bible in which he was accused by the Spanish Inquisition of altering the scriptural text from the original Hebrew. Most of his books were written with association to his Polyglot Bible, and the best was 'Antiquitatum judaicarum' – a work of commentaries on various books of the Bible with notes on important Old Testament figures like Noah, Daniel, and Jeremiah.
