The third edition of Tull's agricultural classic, in which he introduced the seed drill. The drill, as well as various horse-drawn hoes and plows are illustrated in the plates. Tull was an early English proponent of the scientific advancement of agriculture, and helped bring about the British Agricultural Revolution. One plate with two-inch archival repair to a tear. Two Works in One small quarto 183x140mm rebound in full brown levant on 4 raised bands with 2 black spine labels gilt and gilt date to foot of spine. Newer edpapers, small bookplate of Alan John Jarvis, [iv]+20pp; [vi]+126+[4]pp Table. Long ownership inscription on back of titlepage (John Thomas 1751) with name repeated at end of 1st work, John Davies on back of 2nd titlepage with a few ink notes by both owners in margins of later pages. Paper browned throughout, edges frayed and cropped at top at end of book.

The books of VDNKh often start with its main entrance and this one shows a sculpture "Tractor Driver and Female Farmer" installed on a high pedestal (overall 13,5 meters) near the original (pre-war) entrance. Cloth somewhat worn o/w very good. The first part of the book is a translation from the French work of Magne, which contains information on external marks on cows pertaining to milking properties. Magne developed the "eschutheon" theory.

The 87 plates of bovine animals are arranged by origin, each region with its own part-title: England, Holland and Denmark, Switzerland and Germany, (the empire of) Austria, and France. Many of the excellent plates are after photographs by Adrien Nadar. Artists like Emile van Marcke, Isodore Bonheur and Barye contributed to this work.
