Bisbee, Arizona:: Pequeno Press,, 1998.. Edition of 50. 2.5 X 2.875", 131 page miniature. Printed in Eurostile and Zapf types on Neenah Classic Crest paper by Pat Baldwin. The illustrations were "painted" on the computer from a collection of antique playing cards. Poker chip on front cover, facsimile of $1000 bill on back cover. The felt covered boards with silk screened symbols, handmade paper end papers and binding were done at Waterleaf Mill & Bindery by Patrice Baldwin and staff. Signed and numbered. These pithy observations of a professional dealer range from comments by the players on life, poker and other players to commentary on the philosophy of poker.

Brooklyn, New York:: Miriam Schaer,, 2005.. One-of-a-Kind. 7 x 23 x 4" sculpture using opera gloves. Attached to the palm of the left hand a 2 x 1.75", 9-page miniature book, an accordion structure in apple-shaped pages on which is the digitally printed W. B. Yeats' text, an excerpt from "The Song of the Wandering Aengus." Sculpture housed in linen clamshell box. Miriam Schaer: "Golden Apples ponders the quest for love. It was created originally for the installation Chapel of Uncommon Prayer. Created entirely of books and book objects using hand shapes and gloves, created using traditional book binding techniques in a non-traditional way, the exhibition explores the personal relationship to prayer and devotion, in a world with increasingly difficult, often unanswerable questions."

Contemporary full red grained morocco, spine with gilt rules, lettering and embellishment. Boards with double gilt border rules, foliar and floral embellishment, edge tooling, inner foliar curlicues. All edges gilt, (gilding a little faded in places), green silk ribbon bookmark. Small area of surface loss to lower board (see photo). Corner tips lightly rubbed. Occasional light spotting, mainly to free endpapers. Text and plates crisp and bright.
Guy Toussaint Julien Carron (1760-1821) born in Rennes. Educator, writer and philanthropist who founded a number of social and educational institutions: schools, libraries and pharmacies while in exile in England. Deported to Jersey (1792-1796), on the Bourbon Restoration in 1814, Carron returned to France and became head of the Institut de Marie - Thérèse.

GREENAWAY (Kate) and LOCKER (Frederick):
Cradle Verses. 1880. Illuminated Manuscript of Four Poems by Frederick Locker, written by his own hand, with extensive illustrations in watercolors by Kate Greenaway. This charming book was prepared on commission for presentation on the birthday of Frederick Locker's wife, Jane. 24mo., [48] pages; presentation vellum binding with full watercolors on corners, titled: "Babies and Blossoms", all edges green. Housed in custom green morocco leather box, gilt-lettered: "Hannah Jane Locker | 1880", with hand-made velvet pouch.
Unique and extremely charming miniature book.

Provenance: Jane Locker Lampson, thence by descent; acquired by Mrs. Robert S. Pirie from Seven Gables bookshop circa 1961.

London: Anthony Treherne, 1905. First Edition (thus). Flexible boards. Very good. Miniature (5cm x 7cm). A very good copy in the publisher's limp brown leather, stamped in blind. Rubbing to extremities and the binding a touch shaken, but a clean copy of this miniature book. All edges gilt,though the gilt is somewhat dulled. Appears to be genuinely rare; we note just three library holdings, all in the USA (Harvard, UVA, and Worcester PL [MA]).

Amerikaniscen Traktatgesellschaft (American Tract Society), New York: No date. ca. 1850-60s. Presumed first edition. Condition: Very Good. 126 pp (missing pages 127-128 from original printing). Text block has gold gilt top, bottom and fore edges. Pages lightly sunned typical of age, clean, unmarked with no prior owner attribution. Unusual miniature German language edition of the popular Chautropfen (translated as "Dewdrops") miniatures of the period, with a short scripture or quote for each day of the month.

Impensis Gul Pickering. Londini. (London). 1823 /22. MINIATURE BOOK. (3.3 x 2 inches). Portrait frontis, vi, 220pp. Two title pages, one dated 1822, the other 1823. A fine copy of this expertly printed little volume in a highly attractive leather binding of beautiful full plum morocco by Lanscelin. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled, lettered and fully decorated in gilt. Boards with triple gilt ruled borders. Stamped monogram to the front board. Board edges double ruled in gilt. Turn-ins with elaborate gilt roll. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Orange, gold and green silk book marker sewn in. A fine copy, housed in a marbled paper covered slip-case. A marvellous piece of book production, both the text and the binding.

London: The Company of Stationers, 1792. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 64Mo. This is an edition of the London Almanack for 1792. Measuring 1.2 X 1.4 in a leather wallet, A.E.G., consisting of 40 pages, of which 19 leaves are printed on both sides with 2 other leaves printed on one side only. Very good condition with a small pocket at both ends, one of which contains a neatly written ownership inscription dated 1844. The Almanack contains a monthly calendar, a Table of Kings & Queens Reigns, Lord Mayors and Sheriffs, list of Holidays and a list of Current Coins. Uncommon with 3 copies worldwide referenced in ESTC as T127702 although the collation given in ESTC differs from this copy and appears to have been cut and pasted in for all the editions of the London Almanack published between 1788 & 1797.

FIRST EDITION WITH "The Night Before Christmas" SIGNED BY HILARY KNIGHT! Includes a photo from the signing event. Condition is VG+: pristine text & illustrations, the boards look like new. But some age-related foxing on endpapers, mild wear on dust jackets. Slipcase has original $2.95 price clearly visible and remarkably only mild wear, but prior owner wrote their name in black marker (see photo). Expedited and international shipping are welcome; signed by author.
