A Fine, virtually pristine copy in like jacket. Oppenheim published some 150 novels, mainly suspense and international intrigue but also romances and comedies. In the original pale blue dustwrapper with price ($1.00) still intact to inner front flap. Just a hint of fading to the blank spine but overall a fine copy in a very near fine dustwrapper. FIRST EDITION in dust jacket. The book has faint fading to the edges of the boards, otherwise fine. The un-clipped dust jacket has a closed tear on the front panel near the lower front corner and two short closed tears on the top of the rear panel. There are a few spots of foxing on the verso of the dust jacket at the flap folds. A very nice copy.

Siblings Jack and Nancy live near the seaside, and can see ships sailing by from their bedroom window. Sailors tell them tales of tropical foreign lands, and they dream of visiting them some day. On a cliff walk one windy day, their father's green umbrella carries them off for an unbelievable adventure! Absolutely lovely story 270 x 215 mm (10¾ x 8½ inches).

Red cloth with white titles, top edge gilting, printed on laid paper. While better known as a painter (thank you, Marcel Duchamp!), Louis Michel Eilshemius wrote verse that echoes the longings for emotional authenticity seen in his paintings. Some fade to the spine and front cover, light fray at the crown and upper tips. Pages bright, binding tight. Very good plus. . Hard. Very Good Plus/No Jacket. 8vo.

All further printings show year published. No endpapers issued for this copy, so possibly different state or early printing from same year of publication. In red cloth blind stamped to covers and with gilt to type and design motif on spine. Tanning to text block from paper used. Small pale stain to rear board and a few stay marks with 'Made in Japan' sticker to rear pastedown which has a little lifting to same corner and top of hinge. Quite nice overall given the age.

With the extremely rare original colour illustrated dustwrapper. Front panel with illustration by Matthew W. Barry. Spine, which is a bit dulled, lettered in green (price 7/- net). Rear panel with publishers advert. Small (7 x 3 mm) hole to the bottom of the spine otherwise a very good bright example of the rare wrapper. A lovely copy of this powerful novel, set against the background of the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin.
