Description:
1723 Drunken Barnaby Four Journeys Brathwait English Satire Alcohol Wine Beer

Richard Brathwait was a 17th-century English poet who is best known for his travel records of his journeys through England entitled 'Barnabae Itinerarium'. More commonly known as 'Drunken Barnaby's Four Journeys', this book is a satirical, humorous work which made light of drunkenness, persuading the reader that it was "the very fountain from which all wit flowed." (Critical Review, 1805).
This 1723 edition was notable, not only for its full-page engravings, but for the inclusion of additional English notes and prefatory material, not in the previous two editions. Like other versions, this work features both English and Latin translations in verse, which contain descriptions of English towns and a vast knowledge of Latin classical works.

Description:
1625 Italian Renaissance Bracciolini Lo Scherno Degli of gods Mythology TASSO
Francesco Bracciolini was a Italian Renaissance poet known primarily for his poem 'Lo Scherno Degli'. This poem was a satirical work in which he mocked mythical gods and heroes in favor of the one true God. This poem reads as a parody and, according to Kisacky,
"is a defense of an orthodox interpretation of Tasso".
This 1625 Florentine edition was edited by Giovanni Maria Gherardi and features impressive ornamental border around each page.

Description:
Softcover. A collection of 6 signed softcover poetry books by Stephen Berg (or edited). Many rare to uncommon on the market in particular signed. All came from the Library of noted bibliophile and Updike collector Albert J Raman from Philadelphia. All are signed and 4 have an inscription made out to Albert. Crow with no Mouth, 1989 Copper Canyon. The unusually rare 1989 softcover edition, even more so signed (I could not find any other signed copies available at time of posting). Signed on title page with his name signed twice, For Albert - Steve. A fine copy. An eccentric classic of Zen poetry. When Zen master Ikkyu Sojun (1394-1481) was appointed headmaster of the great temple at Kyoto, he lasted nine days before denouncing the rampant hypocrisy he saw among the monks there. He in turn invited them to look for him in the sake parlors of the Pleasure Quarters. A Zen monk-poet-calligrapher-musician, he dared to write about the joys of erotic love, along with more traditional Zen themes.… Read More
