Description:
This is an exceedingly rare book. A Museum Archive claims that it was printed, perhaps in secret, by the CPA or CLP in late 1918 or 1919. Those organizations were driven underground and would not have had the resources to print this book. The book itself is a collection of photographs on 'somewhat glossy, relatively robust, relatively archival paper.' The photographs are famous- I have seen them used in textbooks. There is NO title page. The text is in both Russian and English. The covers are worn, but the pages and photos are in Fine condition. The binding is a tied cord that may be removed to take our individual photographs.

New York, NY: Blue Ribbon Books, 1925. RARE. Authorized Translation (translator not named). This is the original first edition from 1925 (not a reproduction). No dj. Copyright, 1925, by Minton, Balch & Company. Hardcover. Red cloth over boards. Multiple ownership stamps and names inside both front and back covers. Binding split at back board and after flyleaf in the front but binding remains attached. Occasional underlining and staining throughout. Exterior shows its age. Spine is sunned; covers and all edges and corners are rubbed; all corners lightly bumped; some staining to spine. Despite all this, it is still an interesting solid copy of a very, very scarce title.
According to the Trotsky Internet Archive, "This book is very rare and, to our knowledge, been published only once, by Blue Ribbon Books, a now defunct New York publishing house, in 1925. The translator remains unknown although the title page of the book indicates that this is an 'authorized translation'. By whom, we don't now know.… Read More

"Honest and reliable service - every book hand-packaged with care."

Based on material from the newly opened Russian archives, this is the first biography of Nicholas Mikhailovich Romanov (1859-1919), the only intellectual in the Russian Imperial Family. This unique study provides insight into the last six decades of tsarist Russia through the experiences of the odd ball member of the clan.
