Los Angeles: 20th Century Fox. 1940. The revised shooting final screenplay, dated December 15, 1939, although with 24 pages of colored inserts dating from January and February, 1940. Machine stamped "copy #1," belonging to the producer Darryl F. Zanuck. This was one of the two screenplays that O'Hara worked on from September to December 1939 and shared screenplay credits for, in this case with Karl Tunberg and Don Ettlinger. The movie was produced by Zanuck, and starred Vera Zorina, Erich von Stroheim and Peter Lorre. Quarto; mimeographed pages with blue revision sheets inserted. Near fine in printed studio wrappers. (n.p.): Burbank Studios. 1980. Tesich's second draft screenplay (September, 1980) for the film based on Irving's novel. 149 pages, bradbound in studio wrappers; "Garp" written on spine; near fine. Together with a "Confidential" 8-page synopsis of Tesich's January, 1981 final draft by story analyst Thomas Craig, dated 2/27/81: 7-pages of synopsis; 1 page of comment on how the final draft differs from the second draft that is included here. A fascinating muse by Southern on the crafting of the "Easy Rider," screenplay, focusing on how he actually wrote Jack Nicholson's role for Rip Torn, with a detailed explanation of why Torn did not ultimately fill the role. The original screenplay for The Anubis which was developed into the movie, Night of The Living Dead, directed by George Romero. The book was originally published in softcover format in an edition of 1000 copies, each one signed by Russo & Romero on a limitation sheet. Now issued in hardcover with an additional bonus of two reproduction lobby cards at the rear of the book, each of which has been hand-signed by John Russo (who also acted in the movie). Although the signature sheet is numbered 784/1000 this book is actually only one of 80 such copies. Minor bumping to the covers but As New condition, an unread copy.
