This copy is # 6 of 50 presentation copies. A total of 500 were printed. This copy came from the estate of Margaret McDermott. Tom Lea did a portrait of Lon Tinkle, there is a tipped in reproduction of the portrait. At the bottom it is signed, "For Margaret McDermott, Tom Lea". That's an important distinction of this copy. Ms. McDermott was a very important patron of the arts for many years. Lon Tinkle was a respected author and educator in Dallas, Texas. This book commemorates an event of Feb 22, 1977, honoring his work. There are a number of essays: Marshall Terry - SMU, Lillian Bradshaw - Dallas Library, Margaret McDermott, Dr Jacques Barzun - Columbia University, Rev. Maasai Brams 1980 with book as new, clean and tight, beautiful photos and text by jTepilit Ole Saitoti who has SIGNED the ffendpaper with an inscription, "man of the serengeti." The d j is beautiful with a tiny glitch down at the bottom of the back (the cellophane has come off a milimeter,), and some light scratches, on the back that i can't show in a photo, very inobtrusive, can be seen under bright light, the front of the d j and the spine are flawless.

Published in Helsinki by Schildts, Tove Jansson's publisher in her native Finland, the original first printing of the book by which she is arguably best-known nowadays. Printed in the Swedish language. Of legendary scarcity and in superb condition. In the publisher's 1/4 cloth with marble-effect boards, pp. 119 (120), the binding is firm and square, corners sharp. The block remains fresh and white and is free from previous owner names, finger-marking etc. A Fine example. The dustjacket is in VG shape without loss. A small nick to the top edge of the rear panel, minor shelf-wear along the top edge. Fixed to the title-page a beautiful example of the author's hand-signed autograph in green ink. A spectacular copy of this classic work.

Historical fiction that provides valuable insight into a misunderstood woman, both in her own time and in history. Signed by Irving Stone on the front free endpaper. Carefully packaged and shipped in a box.

The author explains that his "comments on MIss Fonteyn's performances a re purely personal." A wonderful documentation of her career.
