The Asher Mott Howell Family Bible: Asher Mott Howell (1791-1853) was a relative of abolitionist Lucretia Coffin Mott, and the subject of a portrait by American painter Jacob Eichholtz currently on loan to the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

The spine has four (false) raised bands with gilt decoration, and additional gilt decoration at the head and tail of the spine. Spine also has gilt title ("Chapel Services"). Owner's name in gilt to front cover. Very light shelf wear to edges and corners. King's Chapel is the oldest church in America with continuous weekly worship services. Its liturgy is a unique hybrid that reflects this history, largely based upon the 1662 English Book of Common Prayer . A truly spectacular example of this scarce liturgical work in an unusually well decorated American binding.
