Some wear and toning to covers and pages, but complete and in very good condition for its age and the fact it was made to be carried by soldiers during wartime. This title was so popular, it was reissued later in the series as ASE K-28. Published during WWII by the Council on Books in Wartime and distributed to GIs, Armed Services Editions were part of the U.S. military effort to fight against propaganda and to promote free thought. This title was one of the most popular in the ASE series, but is now very hard to find. Featured in the Grolier Club exhibit "The Best Read Army in the World", on view through December 30, 2023.

Description:
Fresno, CA: National Library Books, 1964. RARE. Gay pulp fiction. Near Fine, spine lean, paper uniformly browning. NLB-100. Mass market paperback. "Lost on Twilight Road reflects on the early life of a boy whose primary aim was to live peacefully, disrupting nobody's chance of existence. But from the time that his mother sent a woman to their trailer to seduce him, he began to find that peaceful co-existence was a hard endeavor. His twilight path began shortly after Mildred had seduced him, the second seduction being by a boy near his own age. Having been jolted from his first foster home and called a "queer," he next lost another job because of his refusal to accept advances from a prominent business man. With any heart at all in your bosom, you can't help but feel a kindred sorrow for this boy, as well as some sort of a dislike for the people whose tolerance of the unfortunate goes no deeper than the first layer of skin on their bodies"--Back cover. .
