We're Getting the Banned Back Together

Although considered masterpieces, many literary classics have been challenged, banned, and censored worldwide. Some works were banned for political reasons, while others faced the same fate for religious or moral reasons. Unfortunately, the motives for targeting these classic books throughout history have not changed much over time and remain common arguments to justify book banning nowadays. We want to celebrate the freedom to read by gathering a list of well-known books that have struggled to tell their stories. As Oscar Wilde wrote in the preface to the 1891 edition of The Picture of Dorian Gray, "There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all."
