Written by Neil Munro, the Scottish born journalist, writer and critic. Illustrated by Mary Y. and J. Young Hunter. This work of topography explores the River Clyde, the second longest in Scotland, which flows into the Firth of Clyde. This work follows the river, and the landmarks and cities along its banks. Illustrated with 67 plates, and 1 folding map to the rear of the volume. Collated complete. With the bookplate of Royal Philosophical Society of Glasgow, with additional stamps to the head of the front endpaper and also to the head of the title page. Condition: In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Minor rubbing to the front and rear joints. Previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown and light offsetting to the endpapers. Stamps to the head of the front endpaper and also to the head of the title page. Internally generally firmly bound, lightly strained in places. Pages are bright and clean. Overall Condition: Very Good.

Blue decorative cloth binding with tridents and the old seal of Glasgow, consisting of a shield and a salmon with a ring in its mouth, a tree, a bird and a bell - which are references to stories of Saint Mungo, who founded the church in Glasgow. Illustrated by 67 color plates. Neil Munro (1863 - 1930) was a Scottish journalist and author, most famous for his humorous stories about the Clyde puffer (steamboat), "The Vital Spark" and its captain, "Para Handy". Munro was an early promoter of Joseph Conrad and Rudyard Kipling, and a friend of the writers J.M.Barrie, John Buchan. John Young-Hunter (1874 - 1955) was a Scottish painter (born in Glasgow), who studied under John Singer Sargent. His wife, Mary Young-Hunter (1872 - 1947) was a New Zealand painter.
