The Lincoln County War (A Documentary History)

Nolan, Frederick

The Univ. Of Oklahoma Press, 1992. 607 pp. including 83 photographs, three maps and a detailed c hronology of events and biographies of many of the participants. The legend of the Lincoln County War and its most remantic figure, Billy the Kid, holds a special plae in the history of the American West. The war was propelled by greed, religious and racial prejudice, liquor and firearms and turned out tobe a "struggle to the death" for the economic domination of a region. The results showed that neither side won and both suffered tremendous losses, human and financial, in Lincoln County, New Mexico. An outstanding commentary of an interesting time. Signed by author on an unattached bookplate on fore edge page. Very scarce title.. Hard Cover. As New/As New.
