Octavo, 499pp. A good copy, mildly soiled, and with foxing to the fore-edge, in a good only dust jacket with some creases and wear to the corners and extremities. Depite these noted flaes, a rather crisp copy. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Conroy on the front free endpaper: "To Walter and Lila, who have wonderful taste in relatives and who are good friends of mine. Pat Conroy April 13, 1984." Walter and Lila Croen are cousins of Cliff Graubart, Conroy's close friend who operates the Old New York Book Shop in Atlanta, a setting that Conroy discusses at length in some of his memoirs as where he developed a close relationship with books, and met other Atlanta authors in the 1970s and 1980s. Though in an unfortunate state, a copy with a pleasing association.
