About This Item

Derry, New Hampshire: Babcock & Koontz, 1986. First Edition. First Printing.. Hardcover. As New/No Dust Jacket, As Issued.. Derry, New Hampshire: Babcock & Koontz, 1986. Hardcover. As New/None, As Issued. First Edition/First Printing. 17 pages. The author's short story. One of Tobias Wolff's finest achievements. Limited Edition of 240 numbered and signed copies. Published as a hardcover original only. There is no ISBN. The Limited Edition is now scarce. An austerely elegant production by Allan Kornblum: Regular-sized volume format. Pale gray cloth boards with titles pasted on the cover, as issued. Short story by Tobias Wolff. Frontispiece woodcut illustration by Gaylord Schanilec. Printed on archival Masa stock paper by Coffee House Press in the United States to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents, in its Limited Edition format, Tobias Wolff's "The Other Miller". The author's first Limited Edition publication. The piece originally appeared in The Atlantic Monthly Magazine, also in 1986, as the Copyright Page indicates. It was subsequently collected in Tobias Wolff's "The Night In Question: Stories" (1996) . "When I read this short story, it was immediately obvious that I am reading the work of a Master storyteller. I become so enthralled in the character, the storyline, and the pristine reality of Wolff's world that I simply forget I am reading at all. Wolff offers escape into his creation, perusal into the minds of the people he has created" (Isaac James Baker) . An absolute "must-have" title for Tobias Wolff collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition of 240 numbered and signed copies, indicated/numbered as such on the Back Limitation Page. It is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed in black fountain pen by Tobias Wolff. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is a late-modern classic. This is one of few copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A scarce signed copy thus. Winner of the PEN/Faulkner Award in 1985 for "The Barracks Thief". One of the most influential and important American writers of our time. A fine copy.
