About This Item

Hamish Hamilton, 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. First UK edition, first impression of the masterpiece by eventual Nobel Prize winner Albert Camus. The iconic Michael Ayrton first state jacket with original price does not mention the Prize and the back does not yet have reviews. Jacket protected in mylar and has not been price clipped. All pages are bright, clean and unmarked aside from vintage bookseller’s sticker to FEP. Tape repair to verso of jacket edge and loss to crown and heel of jacket spine, but presents well in mylar. Overall a highly collectible copy of this tragically relevant book.

Synopsis

Albert Camus' parable, The Plague , tells the tale of a town beset by a horrible disease carried in from rats in the sewer, and the lessons the main characters learn as they face humanity in the destruction of the plague.
