JERUSALEM: STEIMATZKY'S AGENCY Ltd, 1972 SIGNED Copy.Blue boards with gilt titles to spine,215 x 140 mm approx. xiv + 386 pp.Applied gold head and tail bands. 27 b/w photos + Map. The inside story of the Irgun Zvai Leumi by the late Prime Minister of Israel and Nobel Peace Prize winner Manachem Begin. The book opens in a Soviet camp in Siberia, where Begin was imprisoned in 1940 and closes with the birth of the new State of Israel. The copy offered by us is of the fifth English edition translated by Samuel Katz, edited , with notes by Ivan M.Greenberg and containing an additional chapter by Begin called"From the perspective of a generation" 1972. The book is inscribed To "Mr Barnes, the friendly Aambassador, Greetings from Jerusalem and Signed by Begin. The Mr Barnes being Sir John Barnes who was British Ambassador to Israel from 1969 to 1972. Good/Good (Book- Rubbing to imitation cloth covers to boards and paper of book block a little tanned. Family Book Plate of Cynthia & John Banes to front paste down. No other inscriptions or other faults. Dust Jacket- A little light general shelf soiling and a few nicks and tears - max 10mm approx. but remains quite presentable in a removable proprietary protective sleeve.
