About This Item

Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1884. 2nd Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Book is in near fine condition with a crack to front cover and ffe. No jacket. Nice collectible. Readers may be interested to know that The Story of a Country Town, was written entirely at night, after the writer had finished a hard day's work as editor and publisher of a small evening newspaper. Not a line of it was written while the sun was shining, but almost every chapter has reference to the midnight bell.
