First edition, first printing, of the first Hardy Boys title, long considered one of the holy grails of American children's book collecting. Developed by the American publisher Edward Stratemeyer, The Hardy Boys books were one part of a range of juvenile detective fiction released by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. This 1959 edition of the original Tower Treasure was significantly rewritten by Harriet Adams, daughter of the Stratemeyer Syndicate's owner. The book is in very good condition, with light wear on the upper and lower spine. Blue Binding, tan illustrated paste-downs on front and back boards. Endpapers are clean. Title, text pages are spotless.This book was written for the Stratemeyer Syndicate by Leslie McFarlane in 1927.[2] Between 1959 and 1973 the first 38 volumes were systematically revised as part of a project directed by Harriet S. Adams, Edward Stratemeyer's daughter.[3] While some volumes only had minor changes, the original version of this book had the plot significantly rewritten in 1959 by Adams.[2]
