1992 paperback 1st thus. Spine VERY creased and tilted, with a curve in the middle and some fraying, a lot of curling, some underlining and notes (I see them on less than 10 pages but might have missed something), corner folds, soil on edge and some pages, for all that, still quite readable.

Farrar, Straus and Young, 1952. Hard cover. Very good/No jacket. First edition. Spine is cracked and shaken but secure. Spine and cover are worn, especially along edges. Text block is tanned and foxed, but legibility is not affected. Back end papers are tanned. Inside is clean and unmarked.

A sound dust jacketed copy of Shaw's uncommon autobiographical saga. Black cloth lettered in gilt at spine. Cloth a little shelf soilied surfaces and some dulling of the gilt titles at spine. Trace figer soil to page block edges, and a superficial shelf bump Sbottom front corner of the page block . Dust jacket rubbed and worn at edges with a thumb joint sized chip from the crown of the spine panel and several much smaller nicks/chips at edges. Flap folds rubbed and a little relaxed; closed stress cracks around the jacket spine have been archivally mended on the reverse surface with judicisous application of japanese paper tap. Sound and decent and with still good shelf presence with archival jacket protector. G++/G+ .
