[7], 2-382, [2]; [5], vi-viii, [1], 2-376, [2] pp. Half bound in green leather over marbled boards, spines with five raised bands, lettered and decorated in gilt, all edges stained a pinkish-brown, light pink endpapers and pastedowns. Bound by H. New. Each volume illustrated by a frontispiece and a vignette title page, and by several plates and in-text illustrations (all plates present in each volume). Includes the armorial bookplate of Joseph Findlater on the front pastedown of each volume. Van Duzer 232. A nice copy of this well-known historical novel by one of the most important British novelists of the Victorian era. A Very Good set with minor fading to the spine and the corners of the boards, a few tiny spots of age darkening to the endpapers and pastedowns.
