Book Fairs

Back to the books: Rare Books LA – Pasadena

It’s time for another book fair! We are proud to sponsor Rare Books LA – Pasadena on February 4-6, 2022 at the Pasadena Convention Center, 300 East Green Street, in Pasadena, California.

Join booksellers and bibliophiles from around the world and safely reconnect and share your love of books, fine prints, ephemera, and more!

Rare Books LA is excited to welcome everyone back to an in-person book fair. Visitors to the fair will have ample opportunity to explore the unique offerings of 85 rare books, fine prints, and map sellers from across the globe. “The fair is an opportunity for exploring, discovery, learning, and perhaps even taking a treasure home with you,” said Rare Books LA Director Jodi Tolan.

Opening night is on Friday, February 4 from 5 pm-8 pm/PT, and the tickets will benefit The Huntington Library. Those ticket holders will also get $10 off of admission to the world-famous library and gardens during February 2022. The book fair continues Saturday, February 5 from 10 am-6 pm/PT, and Sunday, February 6 from 11 am-4 pm/PT.

Rare Books LA – Pasadena will also be the epicenter of several events in recognizing the 100th anniversary of the publication of James Joyce’s novel Ulysses, considered one of the most important works of modernist literature. The Huntington Library is hosting the two-day conference: “Joycean Cartographies: Navigating a New Century of Ulysses,” as well the special exhibition “Mapping Fiction” that covers novels and maps from the 16th through the 20th century, including a newly acquired series of engraved maps derived from Ulysses made by the artist David Lilburn. Joyce scholars are joining Rare Books LA for a free, online panel open to the public at 1 pm/PT on January 27. Register today: “The Novel of the Century: Reflecting on James Joyce’s Ulysses on the 100th Anniversary of its Publication.”

In conjunction with the in-person book fair, Rare Books LA is hosting a concurrent virtual book fair using Getman’s Virtual platform that kicks off Thursday, February 3 at 9 am/PT and runs for the duration of the in-person fair.

  • Hi, I have a rare book called Milton.
Showing a fruit tree on the cover.
I think from 16th century. Can anyone help me determine value?after searching the web I found one with a similar cover with Edgar a. Poe: on embossed leather.

  • I’ve always enjoyed in-person book fairs more than virtual ones. For those of us who couldn’t go to Rare Books LA-this year, did anyone review the in-person book fair to let us know what we missed?
