About This Item

"A Duet with an Occasional Chorus" by Arthur Conan Doyle. 1899 1st American Edition; D. Appleton and Comany; New York. There are 8 pages of advertisements at the back of the book. 1899 is printed on both the title and copyright pages. The novel features the story of a happily married couple which is threatened by a previous lover of the husband. Conan Doyle hoped that this would be his most successful novel to date, but the novel was widely criticized for being banal and inane.
