"A Duet with an Occasional Chorus" by Arthur Conan Doyle. 1899 1st American Edition; D. Appleton and Comany; New York. There are 8 pages of advertisements at the back of the book. 1899 is printed on both the title and copyright pages. The novel features the story of a happily married couple which is threatened by a previous lover of the husband. Conan Doyle hoped that this would be his most successful novel to date, but the novel was widely criticized for being banal and inane.
Condition:
There are a couple light stains to the front and back covers; the lettering on the spine has faded; sharp corners. Tight binding. No loose pages. Occasional small ink smudge or stain spot to the text pages. Bookplate affixed to front pastedown. Crack at rear hinge (see photos). Lacking half title page with the publisher's list of other Doyle works.
