A documentary about the 1972 Watts Summer Festival, held by Tennessee label Stax Records at the Los Angeles Coliseum to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the 1965 Watts riots against police brutality. Isaac Hayes headlined, with a veritable blues, funk, and soul who's who of supporting acts, including Carla and Rufus Thomas, The Staple Singers, The Bar-Kays, Albert King, and others, interspersed with stand-up comedy by a young Richard Pryor.
