Henry Miller (1891-1980) was an American writer. He created semi-autobiographical works that blend character study, social criticism, philosophical reflection, explicit language, sex, surrealist free association, and mysticism. Some of his more noteworthy works are the trilogy of Tropic of Cancer (1934), Black Spring (1936), and Tropic of Capricorn (1939).<br/> <br/> Black Spring is a series of ten short stories first published by Obelisk Press in Paris in 1936. It is closely related to Miller's first published novel, 1934's Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn (1939).<br/> <br/> Grove Press was an American publisher founded in 1947. It became noteworthy/infamous for publishing censored, often French, and sexually explicit works.
