The Western States Virtual Book & Paper Fair opens on April 29th, 2021, and runs through May 1. This new fair is a partnership between many fairs and trade organizations, working together to gather over 100 exhibitors and specialists from the worlds of antiquarian books, prints, photography, maps, and ephemera. Biblio is a proud sponsor of this event, which is being produced by Rare Books LA and in conjunction with the Rose City Book & Paper Fair, the Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair, the Sacramento Antiquarian Book Fair, The Rocky Mountain Book & Paper Fair, the Albuquerque Book Fair, the Fort Worth Antiquarian Book Fair, and the Houston Book Show.
The exhibitor booths are open for browsing continuously through the fair. You’ll find many Biblio sellers at the fair, including Underground Books (Carrollton, Georgia), Ken Sanders Rare Books (Salt Lake City, Utah), Lux Mentis (Portland, Maine), Lighthouse Books (Dade City, Florida), and many more – see the full list of exhibitors here.
Beyond browsing beautiful books, you’ll want to mark your calendar and reserve your spaces for the amazing talks and virtual tours offered during the event, including a bilingual session in Spanish and English about the intertwined history of the United States and Mexico through an exploration of original documents. Experts on the Occult, as well as Western Americana, will speak about collecting in these two different genres, award-winning author Matt Ruff will talk about his novel Lovecraft Country and its transformation into an HBO series, and Karina Longworth will share her experiences in the archives preparing for her podcast You Must Remember This.
