Covers bumped and chipped along the edges; spine professionally replaced; solid binding; still VG overall. Compiled from researches on journeys taken 1830 to 1841, with information updated. An excellent vademecum for the travelling Englishman of the mid-19th century, with a wealth of detail about travel, modes of travel (carriages, railroads, ships, etc.), roads, cities, etc. A textured picture of living and travelling in France at the time.
