Coffee cloth/boards with white lettering on spine. Bw-illus. dj with orange title block and white lettering on black spine. 211 pp. with over 300 bw illus. A survey through colonial newspapers, almanacs, Ben Franklin's contributions, William Caslon's types (used in the first printings of the Declaration of Independence), "Gothic Revival", and technical innovations since then, up to the mid-1970s.
