Springfield : The New Era Company, 1892. First edition. Paperback. Very Good. 7" by 5". None. The first edition of this scarce historical work on the discovery of America. This work briefly starts by discussing pre-columbian discoveries of America however the majority of the work discusses Columbus and the colonisation of America by the Europeans. With sixteen colour plates. With the title page dated 1892 and paper wraps dated 1893. Scarce, particularly in the original paper wraps. The first edition. This work draws focus on specific areas of America and their achievements in the four hundred years since Columbus' discovery. An interesting late Victorian perspective on the colonisation of America. In original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart. Light chipping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Handling marks and some fading to the colour of wraps. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Pages are slightly age toned to edges, with the odd spot throughout. Very Good
