[New York]: n.p., 1980. Very good plus.. Group of original vintage color photographs of The Slits performing at The Ritz in New York City in 1980. A dynamic selection of photographs, taken from close vantage to the stage, focusing mainly on singer Ari Up and guitarist Viv Albertine, but also capturing bassist Tessa Pollitt in a couple of images. The Slits were hugely influential, not only on later female punk groups like Sleater Kinney and Bikini Kill, but also in expanding the musical palette of punk - helping to introduce reggae, Afro-pop, and other styles from around the world. Their debut album CUT remains a touchstone of avant-punk. They released only one more album before their breakup in 1982 and they toured the US only infrequently. 3.5'' x 5.25'' all. Eight original matte finish color snapshot photographs on Kodak branded paper. Mild toning. Some soiling to edges, not effecting images. Else clean, sharp, uncreased.

'Son of a Box of Punks' comprises seven silver gelatine prints of punk and New Wave bands; the images contained within the box set are all original handprinted photographs made from negatives taken for 'Sounds' magazine in the late 1970s; this is the superior DeLuxe edition which uses fibre-based prints (instead of resin-coated), in hinged archival mounts (instead of standard mounts). Each print is signed by the photographer on the mount. This is copy no.4 of an unspecified edition number (likely fewer than 20 examples), the series now having been discontinued by the publisher due to production costs and time constraints.
