Pages are rather marked with pronounced tanning and foxing, plus thumbing. Foxing intense towards the start and end of the book and on text block edges. Pencil inscriptions to front endpaper. Slight gutter cracking. Text block edges are uneven. Boards have some edge wear, with slight bumping and fraying to corners, while spine ends are moderately crushed and rubbed. Slightly scratched, rubbed and marked overall. Slight water staining to front and rear. Book has a heavy forward lean. Gilt is bright.

Slight cracking to gutters with exposed netting, pages remain attached. Pages are lightly tanned throughout. Markings to some pages. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Staining overall. Boards are slightly warped.

Marcus Ward, 1882. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1882. No Edition Noted. 422 pages. No dust jacket. Gilt decorated green cloth with black and white illustrated plates throughout and black and white illustrations throughout. Moderate foxing and tanning to pages with heavier foxing and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Front endpaper is missing and both hinges are cracked with exposed netting. There is cracks to guttering with exposed netting and major tanning to text block edges. Boards have visible rubbing and edge wear. Moderate bumping to corners and major crushing to spine ends. There is fraying to cloth at corners and spine ends.

London: Marcus Ward. Cloth. Good/No Jacket. Bound in brown cloth, no DW, front board has a medallion logo of Scott. Grey endpapers, 13 plates and 29 in-text illustrations, 422pp. Corners and tips of spsine are scuffed. Text is very good.

Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Notable bumping to corners. Moderate crushing to spine ends. Light sunning to spine and edges. Water staining to rear board. Textblock is shaky.

London: Marcus Ward & Co, 1878. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. With Illustrations". From series "The Illustrated Waverley Novels". Edition and printing not known. In very good dark green bevel edged cloth boards, with blind stamped ruled and decorative edges on all sides, gilt circle to front with gilt male head; gilt titles to back strip. The covers are very clean, bright, firm and straight. The end papers are lightly foxed and tanned; name and address sticker to front paste down. Slightly age-toned cut edges; tinted brown top edge. The text block is in very good condition, tightly bound and clean except for the prelims and the end pages which are a little tanned.With many b/w illustrations and with attractive head pieces. Thought to be issued without dust jacket. Part of colllectable collection.

Soft leather bound with 36 illustrations and ribbon page marker. Leather spine is a bit worn at the edges. Binding is good. No markings, tears or folds.
