Well bound and clean pages, with moderate tanning to text block edges. Pencil inscriptions to ffep. Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning. Book has noticeable forward lean. Unclipped jacket with heavy edge wear, large tears and chipping, causing loss around edges and spine. Small area of loss to edges.

London: The English Universities Press, 1949. 8vo., in original illustrated cloth and dust-wrapper, 320 pp., b/w in-text illustrations throughout, colour plates. A very nice bright copy, neat presentation inscription inside. Dwust-wrapper just a little chipped at edges. Splendidly 'vintage' 1940s design and techniques for all home furnishings post-war published during post-war impetus for 'Do-it-Yourself' New Look. The artist also published books on lingerie making, dressmaking and knitting. Dust wrapper by C. H. Richard, other illustrations by Gladys Gliddon (sister of artist and suffragette Katie Gliddon), Olive Hammond (artist and cartoonist), Norah Ruthven. "With this book you can make your home both more beautiful and more comfortable and at an astonishingly low cost".
