First volume of hearings (4 volumes were eventually published) on proposed "Right to Life" legislation following the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision guaranteeing women the right to seek an abortion within the first three months of pregnancy. This volume includes testimony of Senators Jesse Helms, James L. Buckley and Ernest Gruening; Reps. Bella Abzug, Donald M. Fraser, Ron Dellums, Clare Booth Luce, and many others including civilian witnesses and numerous representatives of the clergy.
