About This Item

Akbuquerque, New Mexico: University of New Mexico Press, 1992. First Edition . Trade Paperback. Very Good. 5 1/2" x 8. 310 pages. Exterior is very clean, no signs of fading; spine shows minor wear on top and bottom, and has a few line creases running along it, but no damage to binding. Interior text is flawless, with beautiful photographs. With a glossary included, this book alternates between Spanish and English, telling the oral histories of the ranching/farming life, of superstition and religion, and of the struggle to survive in a harsh land. This volume has more stories by women about their activities as providers of food and clothing. Also included are several tales that correspond to Anglo-European fairy tales. They all contribute to a vivid picture of an almost forgotten segment of Hispanic culture.
