About This Item

London: Mills & Boon, (1916). First edition. Hardcover. Spine gilt somewhat dulled faint splash stain to front cover, light foxing, else near fine. Original slate blue cloth lettered in gilt; vi, 84 pp., 4 pp. advertisements for Macmillan's Jack London books at rear.

This Mills & Boon first UK edition is bound from the first US (Macmillan) edition, including the Macmillan catalog at rear. Title page is a cancel (tipped in) with Macmillan printing and copyright on back of page and Mills & Boon's name on front. Only 1350 copies of the first US edition were printed, likely many fewer bear the UK imprint. NB: Sisson & Martens (Jack London First Editions) make note of BAL's error concerning the number of pages of advertisements at the rear of the US edition: 4 in all examined copies, not 6 as reported in BAL. BAL 11964; Sisson & Martens p. 128.
