Bennington, VT: s.n., 1897. First edition; 6 1/2 x 9 1/2; pp. 20; textured brick red wraps printed in black; closed cut along spine; edges of wraps a bit brittle with a thin strip chipped off fore-edge of back cover; internally clean; overall very good-.A beautiful speech delivered at the dedication of the Catamount Monument - a granite and copper statue - in Bennington, VT marking the site of the famed Catamount Tavern. In fact, there had been not one but three monuments erected and mentioned in the speech the other two placed in a neighboring churchyard overlooking the graves of soldiers fallen during the Battle of Bennington and on a hill marking the spot where General Stark had camped the day before the infamous battle. The only copy in the trade.
